This from one of my spies inside LHS:
"OMGosh.. I have NEVER been so scared in my entire life.. we had a lockdown today. Not a drill. A real lockdown. My teacher told us all to get to the back of the room. She locked the door and turned off the lights. Then she came over and turned some of the desks on their sides to hide us. We were all silently watching the other side of the room, wondering who was out there. We stayed there for like 15 minutes.. and all I could think of was Columbine. Our ceiling cracks, and I thought I heard footsteps on the roof. I kept imagining someone with a gun busting through the window and shooting at us. Our principal came on the speaker and said it was ok, the lockdown was over, there had been a report of a truck with a gun in front of the school, but when Officer Vestri searched it he didn’t find anything.. The district standard is to send the SWAT team in, and we weren’t supposed to leave until they opened the door. But our principal just told us it was ok. He didn’t send in the SWAT team. I was afraid he might have had a gun to his head.. My teacher called the office to confirm everything was ok. I would have felt a lot safer if the SWAT team had come.." -Spy
My Mom agrees with the spy about the principal thing. We talked a lot about this on the way to dinner. How do the teachers know if the principal isnt being forced to say its ok? That problem needs to be fixed.
